Mentally Stress: Could it be any good?

Human beings are the most unique specie of all creations. Yeah-yeah! That's to say you're unique. Everyone likes to have things under control, be effective and successful in what they do, live a good and affluential life: borrow me a new word_that makes human unique. We have senses, feelings, thoughts etc that can make or mar us_our mental pressure.

Human beings are the most unique species of all creations. Yeah-yeah! That’s to say you are unique! Everyone likes to have things under control: be effective, successful, live a good and influential life_ that makes human unique. We have senses, feelings, thoughts etc that can make or mar us (our mental health).

Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical pressure. It’s the body’s natural reaction to a challenge or new situation. Mental stress disturbs the existing mental or emotional balance. It’s also the body’s response to emotional or mental pressure.

CAUSES OF MENTAL STRESS

Time mismanagement: this causes great stress, as one continually feel one has insufficient time to achieve one's goals or go about one's activities.

Peer pressure: many people want to be like their peers who pretend to be someone else too. The crazy cycle keeps repeating itself, making life boring. Comparing one’s life journey to others(peers), is a really tasking and energy sapping task. Stop it!

Anxiety: this is fed by fear of the unknown, negative thoughts and or expectations.

The feeling of unworthiness: This is very saddening, as many persons think they don’t deserve the good things in life. Hence, they are worried about the good things turning bad or sour. Self-condemnation could be another_ good word for this.

Ungrateful attitude: when you feel ungrateful, sad and negative about everything, you ‘ll end up being stressed mentally: no doubts about this.

EFFECTS OF STRESS ON THE BODY

Musculoskeletal system: the muscles tense up when the body is stressed. It tenses to guard itself against injury. And this taut-muscle could lead to tension-type headache.

Cardiovascular system: prolonged tension or stress can have adverse effects on the heart and organs related to it.

Respiratory system: the heart beats faster and harder when one is under stress or pressurized. It could trigger asthma and panic attack.

Immune system: under prolonged stress, the immune system can be compromised making one vulnerable to various infections.

UNHEALTHY WAYS OF DEALING WITH MENTAL STRESS INCLUDES;

1.) Alcoholism: You really want to resort to alcoholism to deal with stress? Pardon! No, no,no; it won't work. It'll also depress you further once the alcohol effect wears out.

2.) Smoking/substance abuse: the after affect is the same as in alcoholism.

3.) Emotional eating: this could add additional problems(low self-esteem due to obesity) to the initial cause of anxiety.

4.) Sex/pornography addiction: well, it’s never the best way to go about stress management. It only wears you out and leave you more depressed plus unfulfilled.

At this point, am sure that you‘re convinced mental health is a she-devil. But let me burst your bubbles, it could be a white dove too, how? There is a positive and negative side to everything in life, it's the same with mental stress. If you handle it carefully, you would realize that a little bit of stress in your life could be a blessing. If handled the right way, stress keeps you on your toes. Also the more you're abe to control mental stress, the more confident you become.

HEALTHY WAYS OF HANDLING MENTAL STRESS

1) Discover the real you: Know who you‘re, what you're capable of, why you were created and so on.

2) Pray, study the word of GOD to know what your creator said and still says about you.

3) Meditate always: you begin to appreciate GOD, yourself, others and nature better the more you meditate: you gain more insight too.

4) Have a plan for your life: It helps you to be organized, thus reduces stress.

5) Take responsibility for your choices, actions and decisions.

6) Accept that no one owes you anything(not even the world), so don’t be bitter against anyone, not even the government.

7) Write out your goals and methods you intend using to achieve them, set out to work.

8) Stop procrastinating: This will help you to get the best out of your time and life. It will also help reduce mental stress, as you feel fulfilled knowing you were able to do the right and important things.

9) Take care of yourself: spirit, soul and body.

10) Have some constructive fun.

11) Allow a friend to help: either by listening or rendering a piece of advice.

12) Spend quality time with your loved ones(friends and family).

13) Stop wasting your time on relationships and activities that drain your energy. Know when to let go!

14) Be in the right circle: be around people who will inspire you to be a better you.

15) Be creative: learn to be you and embrace yourself.

16) Know when to say “no”, and don’t hesitate to when necessary.

17) Smile more: it’s a great and quick self-relief.

18) Be your own bestfriend and number one fan, speak positively to yourself.

19) Consult your Psychologist or medical practitioner to check you in for a therapy session.

The best you can do about things is to make the best out of them. Mental stress is not a plague, nor a death sentence. It’s a state of mind that can be managed and controlled, however, the choice is left to you.

#make a better choice today.

#register mental stress as a challenge rather than a problem even in your subconscious mind.

#Remain healthy, we care about you and we love you!!!
